Sidwell Friends School, an independent co-educational Quaker day school with campuses in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD, seeks a Psychologist/Counselor for its Upper School (grades 9-12).The Psychologist/Counselor works with students, faculty, and parents on issues affecting the mental health and general wellness of the school community and of the community at large. The Psychologist/Counselor collaborates with the Learning Support Coordinator on reviewing psychoeducational evaluations and determining appropriate accommodations and serves as a key member of the student support team along with the principal, assistant principals, and others.The successful candidate will be excited about, comfortable with and experienced in working with adolescents. She/he will also be able to demonstrate a history of successfully offering proactive and solution-focused counseling with the age group.Candidates must have a doctorate or masters in the fields of social work or psychology as well as appropriate professional licensing credentials. Doctoral degrees in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, school psychology, and social work are preferred. A minimum of 5-7 years experience working with adolescents, ideally in an academically rigorous high school setting, is also required.Positions at Sidwell Friends School are campus-based; therefore, this position requires working with students in person.This 11-month, full-time position begins mid July 2021.
