Job Summary Functions as the Chief Administrative/Operations Officer for the MedStar Telehealth Innovation Center (MTIC). Under the general supervision of the executive leadership of the Director or Deputy Director of the MedStar Institute for Innovation, and in partnership with the MTIC Medical Director, the managing director directs the day-to-day operations and administration of MTIC and its operating divisions. Cultivates a workplace environment where highly engaged and mission-driven associates deliver world-class performance. Provides for the efficient use of resources in the delivery of high-quality centralized models of telehealth and in the development and support of system telehealth infrastructure, including such issues as vendor relationships, technology, legal and compliance issues, and revenue cycle. Effectively manages key partner and stakeholders relationships to ensure alignment of priorities and expectations across projects, platforms and programs. Minimum Qualifications Education/Training Master#s degree required. # Experience 10 years of progressively more responsible job-related experience leading and managing multidisciplinary teams. Significant experience managing people and resources in time-constrained and mission-critical projects and operations required. Knowledge of, and experience with health care finance, revenue/ reimbursement models, data visualization and sufficient experience and knowledge of technology to interact with technical systems experts and support and assess the technical work product. Experience in external vendor relationship management, call center management, patient experience programs or similar would be highly valued. Specific experience in telehealth is not a requirement but telehealth specific experience, especially operations, legal/compliance and revenue cycle would be highly valuable. # License/Certification/Registration No special certification, registration or licensure required. # Knowledge, Skills # Abilities Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills are required, advanced skills would be preferred and ability to rapidly acquire new technical skills would be preferred. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations. In partnership with the executive leadership of MI2, MTIC Medical Director and key partners and stakeholders, establishes the strategic direction and near- and long-term priorities for telehealth at MedStar Health. Leads the creation of MTIC#s annual operating plan to deliver on established strategic direction and priorities, including the development of organizational goals and tactics. Communicates the strategy, operating plan, tactics and progress updates across MI2 and to key stakeholders across MedStar Health periodically. Oversees the execution of the annual operating plan by MTIC#s divisions in partnership with the Medical Director. Prepares and delivers periodic reports to MedStar Health leadership regarding MTIC#s operating performance against its plan. Mitigates risks and impact of unplanned priorities during the year and modifies the plan as necessary, managing expectations up and down the chain of command. Ensures coordination between MTIC#s operating divisions as well as partner service lines and other system resources. Supports an operational model that effectively shares resources as needed across the organization to best meet the needs of MedStar Health and accomplishment of telehealth priorities. Oversees all accounting functions including those necessary for auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, capital asset and property management and payroll in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, MedStar Health policies and procedures, and all other applicable rules and guidelines. In partnership with the executive leadership of MI2 and MTIC Medical Director shares responsibility for the overall financial management of MTIC and MI2 resources contributing to telehealth, including the development and implementation of the annual capital and operating budgets. Establishes policies, procedures and processes to support the efficient administrative and operational functioning of MTIC and MI2 personnel with telehealth operational responsibilities. Holds associates and leaders accountable to the established expectations and standards of the organization. Provides for the day-to-day management of all MTIC activities, projects, and programs; maintaining appropriate communications and engagement within and between each of MTIC#s Divisions, MedStar Health and its individual Hospitals and Diversified Businesses, and any external partners. From interactions with internal and external stakeholders, MTIC directors, managers and associates and external partners, the Managing Director recognizes and brings to the attention of MI2 leadership risks that may affect the organization. Displays initiative in developing action plans and resolving problems as they occur, in consultation with the MTIC and MI2 leaders. Responsible for creating and maintaining a highly engaged and productive workforce within MTIC. Handles all aspects of human resource management including but not limited to recruitment, hiring, onboarding, recognition, retention, professional development, discipline, termination, and compensation. Works closely with HR business partners and implements MedStar-approved employee policies and benefits in accordance with local, state and federal regulations. Identifies business opportunities for expansion of services throughout MedStar Health, regionally and nationally. This includes development of business proposals, development of marketing plans, and analysis of current market trends. Promotes MTIC and MedStar telehealth programs to internal and external stakeholders focusing on patient-centered connected care of the highest quality, operational efficiency and standardization, market leadership, innovation and outstanding provider experience. Negotiates, analyzes and evaluates vendor services to determine programs and providers that best meets the needs of MI2 and MedStar Health; negotiates services, terms and premiums and executes contracts with supply and service vendors, auditors and consultants. In collaboration with MTIC Medical Director and partner service lines and clinicians, creates processes to measure, monitor and report on MedStar telehealth operations and impact across MedStar Health. In collaboration with MTIC Medical Director, MI2 leadership and relevant MedStar Health partners coordinates internal and external communication including marketing, media engagement and policy and advocacy opportunities for MedStar telehealth services, technologies, products and results. Coordinates the development and execution of marketing and communications plans to meet the needs of MTIC#s internal and external stakeholders. Supports associates, with leadership from the MTIC Medical Director and MHRI, to publish and present on research, programs and outcomes to further MedStar Health#s national reputation as a leader in telehealth and clinical care innovation. In collaboration with the MTIC Medical Director fosters innovation in clinical care delivery within telehealth and adjacent areas through purposeful exploration of new technologies and approaches. In partnership with MI2 leaders takes calculated risks on new ideas and initiatives to keep MedStar Health at the forefront of health care innovation. Communicates effectively with multiple audiences using a variety of formats about MTIC operations and programs. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, financial reports, legal documents, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; efficiently respond to questions from associates, leaders, partners and members of the community; communicate effectively in both written and oral form; and, effectively present information to diverse audiences including top management. Serves as a member of the MedStar Institute of Innovation leadership teams, Serves on other corporate, entity, or departmental committees as requested by MI2 leadership. Attend and serve on professional/civic service organizations on behalf of MedStar Health as directed. Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and hospital in community outreach efforts. Participates in multi-disciplinary quality and service improvement teams. Performs other duties as assigned.
