Friendship Hospital for Animals is seeking Full time Entry-level Assistants to join our 24/7 Patient Care team. The right candidate would be motivated to learn, enthusiastic about learning more about patient care and client care, be flexible and available to aid multiple departments. This is the perfect chance to get your foot in the door and gain experience in a world class hospital! No experience necessary.About the Hospital:Established in 1936, Friendship Hospital for Animals provides high quality, compassionate veterinary care to the dogs and cats of the Washington DC metro area. Our vision is to be the most medically progressive small animal hospital in the country while adhering to our core values of teamwork, collaboration and respect. We provide wellness, emergency and specialty care with over 60 veterinarians on staff including 13 rotating interns and about 20 board-certified specialists. Friendship has specialty departments including emergency/critical care, clinical pathology, radiology, anesthesiology, oncology, neurology/neurosurgery, cardiology, dermatology, internal medicine/hemodialysis, rehab therapy/sports medicine, and surgery. We have MRI, CT, a separate dedicated ICU, a ventilator, and hemodialysis onsite. In addition to providing clients and their pets the highest quality of medicine and service, Friendship Hospital is also a fun and rewarding place to work and grow. Excellent compensation and generous benefits are offered.Requirements Participate in our team with a positive attitude.Provide technical and nursing care support to technicians, assist technicians , veterinarians, and other veterinary support staff with their duties across departments, as per their direction.Restrain cats and dogs in a safe, comfortable, and "fear free" way.Provide compassionate and excellent patient care while acting as advocate for both patients and clients.Communicate with supervisor, use critical thinking skills and question when unsure about situationsPerform hospital sanitation and maintain treatment stock as needed.Participate in continuing education and actively work to increase skill set.Act as a runner to help in day to day hospital flow of clients and patients in multiple departments as neededOther tasks as assignedSkills and Abilities:Willingness to learn on the jobAbility to remain calm and multi-task in a stressful environment.Excellent communication skills with the ability to speak, read, write and type in English.Ability to work as a team player.Ability to learn, apply new skills and follow through with directions.Ability to learn and use computers, technical machinery and laboratory equipment.Ability to lift 40 lbs.Ability to stand for 8 hours
