The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with facility management in participating in multiple Human Resources functions such as recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, safety, training, record keeping, benefit administration, FMLA, performance management, policy implementation, communication and employment law compliance. JOB DUTIES: Assists in the implementation of personnel policies for our all employees. Responsible for facility recruitment efforts including conducting phone screens, coordinating interviews with the hiring manager, and making employment offers. Coordinates post-offer pre-employment physicals and drug screens, and submits online background investigations for new-hires. Conducts new employee orientations which includes but is not limited to: new hire paperwork, safety training, and benefits enrollment. Submit these documents into Payroll in a timely manner. Verifies I-9 documentation and utilizes E-verify to electronically submit data. Audits and partakes in all performance appraisals; meets with supervisors to discuss each of their departments employees evaluation (30 day evaluation, 70 day evaluation, and annual evaluation). Informs and explains company provided benefits (medical benefits, 401k benefits, etc.) to new and current employees; and submits completed enrollment paperwork in a timely fashion. Establishes and maintains department records and reports. Scans and organizes documents into employees files. Maintains personnel records ensuring timely and accurate records in HRIS system. Handles employee relations counseling; partakes and conducts employee investigations when needed. Conducts and administers all terminations and discipline when needed. Responsible for completing and filing unemployment claims, and also attending unemployment hearings when needed. Reviews FMLA, STD, and LTD information with employees and submit paperwork to STD carrier. JOB COMPETENCIES: Prior knowledge of principles and practices of human resources. Safety knowledge. Implementation of programs. Possess exceptional organizational and communication skills. Exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality when handling critical and sensitive information. Ability to multitask and to be a self-starter. Must have a strong sense of urgency. Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines. Experience working as a sole HR representative for a satellite facility a must. Excellent internal and external customer service skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Ability to speak Spanish or another language other than English is desired. About Dietz & Watson Inc
