Are you detail oriented? If so then SCDMV may have a position for you. We are seeking an experienced Compliance Analyst. This position is located in the Motor Carrier Services-IRP Audit Division, Blythewood SC. Responsibilities of the Compliance Analyst I 1. Examine carrier books, logs, records, schedules, and other data, for the programs administered by the Agency. Make inquiries into the business accounting and reporting practices of carriers associated with the review. Investigate beyond the reported findings to detect emerging risks and recognize the existence of potential fraud. Exercise initiative and resourcefulness in reviews that involve various state/federal laws, IFTA/IRP regulations, FMCSA regulations, accounting procedures, or business practices. Use appropriate methodology to project/adjust in cases where there are no available records or records are inadequate and therefore have a substantial impact on potential liabilities. 2. Analyze data to make decisions and solve problems. Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Exercises adequate judgment in acquiring pertinent facts and necessary documentation to support the findings and to determine proper liabilities. 3. Document proposed changes and adjustments to support conclusions. Prepare concise work-papers and reports, according to a specified format, which fully disclose the basis for all findings, risk, and proposed liabilities of the completed examination. Handles controversial and sensitive issues with considerable tact, technical competence, and skillful negotiation techniques to resolve disputed issues. May conduct examinations that involve protested findings and therefore be required to assist in court preparation and Administrative Hearings. 4. Perform research for risk and compliance review selection with Agency, state and federal databases. Identify potential risks associated with state/federal laws, program requirements, policies, procedures, and business practices /internal controls. Has the incisiveness to select carriers for review, which appear not to comply with IFTA/IRP requirements and FMCSA regulations. 5. Maintain professional growth and development. Professional interaction with administrative officers of various state/ federal entities and personnel of all levels is required. Performs other duties as directed by immediate supervisor and the Chief of Motor Carrier Services. Minimum and Additional Requirements Minimum Requirements High school diploma and relevant work experience may also be considered. A bachelors degree may be substituted for required work experience. Additional Requirements Demonstrated ability to retain DMV policies and procedures and apply them to your daily specified tasks. Employee will be assigned to a geographical area. Must reside in or be willing to relocate to one of the following counties within Region 3; Oconee, Pickens, Spartanburg, Greenville, or Anderson. Overnight and state wide travel may be required. Preferred Qualifications Agency preferred Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 12 accounting credits or related course work and relevant work experience in accounting, auditing, finance, and/or tax analysis is preferred.
