On Tap Magazine is offering a 2020 media internship from January through May to college seniors and young professionals interested in pursuing a career in journalism, publishing and/or communications. We are looking for interns who can spend a minimum of 20 hours a week in our office located in Northeast DC?s Brentwood neighborhood. You?ll work directly with On Tap?s editorial team to gain an understanding of the editorial process driving every issue ? from how compelling content is selected and articles are assigned to how the creative team operates during production ? and to gain hands-on experience for creating and promoting online content. On Tap is owned by DC Fray, which has a digital media arm called #FrayLife. On Tap editorial interns will be responsible for contributing to #FrayLife editorial content in addition to On Tap?s print and digital entities.Please include a resume, cover letter and writing samples in your application.On Tap responsibilities:Contribute to Stage + Screen, What?s On Tap, Music Picks + Drink, Dine, Do listing sectionsWrite a broad range of content including feature articles for both online + printResearch, brainstorm + pitch story ideas for both online + printCompile + organize editorial content for guides + insertsCoordinate the flow of events posted to online calendar + included in the magazineFact check, proofread + make minor edits to editorial content as neededSupport the editorial team with all aspects of the editorial process as neededComplete administrative tasks as needed#FrayLife responsibilities:Create + manage content for social media accountsWrite + edit content for #FrayLife blogs + emailsAssist with planning, outreach, research + reporting as neededRequirements:Strong experience in journalism, communications or another related fieldPublished clips or relevant writing samples (from the past year if possible)Available to work 20-plus hours per week (full-time, 40 hours is ideal)Passion + understanding for the digital media landscape, including various social media platformsExceptional written // verbal communication skills + attention to detailStrong work ethic, entrepreneurial hustle + desire to improve skillset21-plusCompensation:$200 monthly stipend (for full-time interns)College credit availableAbout Us:On Tap Magazine is a monthly lifestyle and entertainment publication highlighting what?s new around the DC area, with 20,000 copies distributed each month.
