Satellite Communications Technician
UltiSat is seeking Satellite Communications Technician who are interested in working in a fast-paced environment, to join a dynamic Network Operations Center team at our Laurel, Maryland Teleport. This role will challenge you as you support a wide range of satellite communications products, services, and infrastructure incorporating very small aperture terminal (VSAT), airborne ISR/COTOM, teleport, broadcast, and mobile satellite services for mission critical applications. This is a Tier 1/Tier 2 level position and the schedule requires the flexibility to work different shifts (6 am - 6 pm and 6 pm - 6 am), weekends, and holidays, and will be compensated accordingly. *Retention Bonus and Relocation Assistance Provided* Provide direction and guidance to customers and technicians during the troubleshooting process including but not limited to: remote site equipment problems and issues, networking and routing, testing, and verification of satellite, and RF communication systems. Interface with customers, technicians, service contractors and vendors to investigate issues and ensure incidents are rectified or escalated accordingly. Assist with ongoing maintenance and upgrade of UltiSat Infrastructure. Monitor, maintain, and operate teleport associated devices, including but not limited to, HPAs, LNAs, Switching systems, BUCs, BDCs, Up/Down-converters, LNBs, ACUs, modems, and IRDs. Utilize monitoring and reporting tools to identify and troubleshoot issues. Keep accurate, detailed, and timely records of troubleshooting processes using ticketing system (Manage Engine). Provide IP networking basic configuration and troubleshooting of routers and switches. US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government issued security clearance 2 to 4 years of experience in satellite communications providing technical support, preferrably in a call center environment. Degree in Telecommunications or equivalent Military experience and training (eg Army MOS 25S). Experience supporting VSAT terminals. Understanding of IP Networking concepts. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Ability to effectively communicate complicated issues to our customers and summarize findings in trouble tickets and emails. Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Valued but not required skills and experience: Experience with iDirect, Newtec and Comtech. Familiarization with broadcast services and support. CCNA Fluency in Spanish or French. Experience with SolarWinds and/or Dataminer.
