Voted one of the regions best places to work multiple times, Octo is an employer of choice!You As one of ourSeniorNetwork Engineers,youllwork with the network engineering team, in support of a federal healthcare enterprise environment.The engineer will apply standardized and consistent engineering methods to ensure reliability, availability, performance, and security of the enterprise network infrastructure and services.Positions include:Senior Network Engineer/Network OperationsSenior Network Engineer/Data Center OperationsKey responsibilities to include design, deploy and maintain network infrastructure and services to utilize best practiceswhich mayinclude ITIL, Agile, Engineering Life Cycle, and Lean IT principles; monitor, evaluate,analyzeand tune network performance including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; plan and execute the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment, software, and tools; and participate in defining network standards and procedures.Youll also provide second level support for network service related issue/items across the entire enterprise; serve as an escalation point in troubleshooting network problems; escalate problems to vendor when necessary; promote IT security throughout the network including through the development of network access control, firewalls, etc.; create and maintain documentation including reference architectures, diagrams, SOPs,etc; develop, test, evaluate and execute upgrades, enhancements, and new solutions for network services; and act as a subject matter expert for network infrastructure and services.UsWe were founded as a fresh alternative in the Government Consulting Community and are dedicated to the belief that results are a product of analytical thinking, agile design principles and that solutions are built in collaboration with, not for, our customers. This mantra drives us to succeed and act as true partners in advancing our clients missions.Program MissionThis engagementis expected toprovidenetwork systemsoperations and maintenance (O&M)andinfrastructure services in a 24/7environment for a leadingfederalhealthcareagency.Areasincludeserver architecture design & maintenance,ensuring cyber security compliance protections, change management, and Unified Communication.Youlljoin a team balancing process-driven IT operations and Lean engineering with an integrated culture of continuous improvement, coupled with innovation and high-quality support services.Requirements:Experience engineering and administeringnetwork switches and routers,enterprise wireless networks,firewalls, preferablyPalo Alto,load balancers, preferablyF5,DHCP/DNS/IPAM, preferablyInfoblox,andnetwork monitoring and management tools.Working knowledge of basic network fundamentals, including but not limited to switching, routing, subnetting, network segmentation, VLANs, QoS, NAT,firewallsand load balancers.Experience withothertechnology tools, which may includeCisco, MS Server, NetScout, RedHat,RedSeal, Science Logic One, ServiceNow, Splunk,StealthWatch, Tenable, Zen, etc.Expertise in identifying new networking solutions or improvements to existing network infrastructure and solutions.Ability and willingness to communicate effectively and appropriately. Desired:Experience supporting HHS or NIH.Experience:For Network Operations- CCIE (Routing and Switching / Enteprise) certification and 5 years of Data Center operational experienceOR CCNP (Routing and Switching or Enterprise/Data Center) certification and 10 years of Data Center operational experience.For Data Operations -CCIE (Data Center) certification and 5 years of Data Center operational experience OR CCNP (Data Center) Certification and 10 years of Data Center operational experience.Education: Bachelorsin a related technical fieldor equivalent experience.Certifications: See above.Location: Rockville, MD(Anticipated remote duringCOVID).Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust/Suitability.Octo is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
