Job Announcement

Responds to inquiries from Fairfax County government agencies, utilizing superior analytical and communication skills to interpret laws and regulations and to provide expert guidance and support on retention and disposal of electronic and paper public records and data. Develops and delivers training and outreach to county government employees on various records management concepts, topics, tools, and procedures. Monitors for and investigates incidents of non-compliance. Contributes to the development, maintenance, and/or operation of the county’s records and archives program instruments/tools, applications, and procedures. Supports implementation and user adoption of records and management procedures and policies configured in enterprise IT applications. Directly manages inactive public records collections.

Employment Standards

Any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the following:

Bachelor's degree in business, computer science or a field related to the department where the information technology services are being used; plus two years of experience analyzing business processes and/or developing/maintaining the main business system, technical platform or a related system.

The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check to the satisfaction of the employer.

Master’s degree in the science or management of information, records, archives or libraries. Experience training and supporting users on records management with an enterprise-class content management system, such as SharePoint Online or OpenText. Experience advising on complex electronic and digital records projects such as large-scale digitization projects and legacy system migrations. Experience developing business classification, taxonomies or other metadata sets using functional analysis or other formal methodology.

Position required to be able to lift up to 30 pounds and occasional work on stair ladders up to 18 feet tall and be productive in a warehouse setting for regular but shorter periods of time. Ability to conduct sedentary work for multiple hours at a time, visual acuity is required to read data on computer monitor, incumbent must be able to operate keyboard driven equipment and tools. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
