Job Announcement

Within the Department of Procurement and Material Management, serves as team lead, lead technical resource and business process architect for enterprise procurement systems and other related systems and applications such as FOCUS (SAP ERP system), Microsoft Dynamics (document workflow), Bonfire (County’s cloud-based e-sourcing provider) and eVA (Commonwealth of Virginia's e-procurement system). Collaborates with other Fairfax County Departments and Fairfax County Public Schools to ensure procurement program success. Develops policy, standards, and procedures to govern the use, administration, testing, and training of software applications, technology equipment, and other technology-based systems. Provides staff supervision over the Business and Technical Support branch. Oversight responsibilities include business support, statistical reports, hardware support and replacement, and software support. Directs the life cycle design and redesign, process improvement, testing and implementation of new applications and electronic commerce programs for Fairfax County and Fairfax County Public Schools. Leads and participates in technology projects and process redesign activities that have countywide impact. Designs and implements reporting strategies to address county reporting requirements, to include areas such as spend analysis, spend category management, and other spend analytics.

The salary for this position will not exceed the midpoint of the advertised salary range.

Employment Standards

Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, business administration, or related field; plus five years of experience in information systems and process redesign, managing and implementing all phases of the systems development life cycle, including at least one year of supervisory experience.


Experience with SAP software; specifically, SAP procurement software. Business analyst experience, preferably with government, and business analysis certification (such as PBA-PMI, IIBA, or CSBA).

The appointee to the position must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and a credit check.

Job is generally sedentary in nature; however, job entails walking, standing, sitting, climbing stairs, reaching, and bending. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor; ability to drive a vehicle. Employee may be required to occasionally lift or carry up to 15 lbs. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
