COORDINATOR FOR COMMUNITY & SAFETY PROGRAMS
POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Coordinator for Community & Safety Programs is a full-time, professional exempt staff position with full benefits. The position will have responsibility for assisting with the management and supervision of the department’s safety and community programs. Develop and coordinate departmental safety training. Administer all aspects of a diverse set of community programs, designed to meet the needs of the campus and surrounding community. Specific responsibilities include; Coordinate American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid training for the department, develop and coordinate or conduct new safety training programs as needed, manage the community program (e.g Learn to swim, Tennis Lessons, First Aid/CPR Training, Babysitter Training, Medication Administration) to include: scheduling, registration (point of sale), staffing and evaluation. Hire, train, supervise, schedule, and develop 20-30 safety and community instructors. Coordinate with aquatic and facilities staff to prepare facilities, equipment, and staff for all aquatic events.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have, as a minimum: a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and two (2) years of professional experience in a recreation setting. Working knowledge/prior experience with safety and community programs (e.g Learn to swim, Tennis Lessons, First Aid/CPR Training, Babysitter Training, Medication Administration). Current American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuers Instructor or equivalent certification. Experience with program registration management software (for example, CSI, Fusion, Formsite, etc.). Current Lifeguarding/ Water Safety Instructor/ Certified Pool Operator Certification. Preferred: Master’s degree from an accredited institution in recreation, sports administration, student personnel administration, or related field. American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid for Professional Rescuers Instructor Trainer certification or equivalent. Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer (WSIT) certification or equivalent. Experience with aquatic events
START DATE: December 6, 2021, preferred.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience, the range is $60,000-$65,000
BENEFITS: 22 days annual leave, 14 paid holidays, 3 days personal leave, 15 days sick leave; University contributions to health insurance and retirement plans; tuition remission.
