Naval Engineering Subject Matter Expert Job Category: Engineering Time Type: Part time Minimum Clearance Required to Start: Secret Employee Type: Part-Time On-Call Percentage of Travel Required: Up to 10% Type of Travel: Continental US What You'll Get to Do: Work supporting the Navy's Littoral Combat Ship Program. LCS is a fast, agile, mission-focused platform designed for operation in near-shore environments yet capable of open-ocean operation. It is designed to defeat asymmetric "anti-access" threats such as mines, quiet diesel submarines and fast surface craft. More About the Role: Perform Hull, Mechanical and Electrical (HM&E) engineering, design, and technical support to the Littoral Combat Class Sustainment Program. Perform technical assessments, evaluating, and advising the government on equipment and system problems. Assist with processing of Departure from Specifications (DFS), and electronic Liaison Action Requests (eLARS). Participate in Failure Review Boards, Availability Planning Conferences, Configuration Control Boards, Risk Boards, and Safety Working Groups. Provide recommendations to government staff on modernization priorities. You'll Bring These Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture of Marine Engineering 30 years relevant experience in Naval Shipyards or NAVSEA associated Program Offices At least 10 years of specific experience with the Program, Planning, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) process At least 10 years of specific experience in Littoral Combat Ship Modernization and Sustainment These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: Surface Warfare Officer Qualification DAWIA PM Level III Certification USCG Chief Engineer of Steam / Motor / Gas Turbine Certification What We Can Offer You: We've been named a Best Place to Work by the Washington Post.
