You will be based in our Boston, Chicago, New York, Philadelphia or Washington DC office as part of our McKinsey North America Reputation team. You will be an integral member of the North America external relations team and will lead select strategic initiatives tied to the integrated reputation agenda. You will report to our director of North America external relations and join a team comprised of geographically-focused and central North America communications colleagues. You will collaborate with various stakeholders across the firm including practice-based communications leads, client operations colleagues, firm leaders and more. You will share insights that engender trust and confidence among those with whom you collaborate, ranging from teams of consultants to communications peers to leaders within the firm or our communities. You will create and drive discrete elements of executive communications strategy and lead a multi-channel communications campaign around one of our key US themes. You will advance executive visibility for the North America managing partner, owning specific components of their platform with a focus on social media, media interviews and speaking events. Your key activities will include proactive media pitching, preparing briefings, drafting articles and blogs, managing LinkedIn platform and related assets. You will drive communications and marketing efforts for our priority US signature themes with an initial focus on mental health and well-being, but will vary based on demand. You will also play a lead role in developing a strategic plan to manage whitespace outreach campaign pilots across select North America clusters. These are defined as outreach efforts to a list of white space organizations/individuals which can be both one-time and continuous to share targeted new insights, events or other relevant news. This will entail close collaboration with relevant North America external relations leads, ClientLink and Client Dev Ops teams to track responses and progression. Beyond these three primary areas, you will be an integral thought partner and collaborator to the broader North America Reputation team, working together on a range of activities that may include any of the following: crafting a multi-channel promotion plan for a specific report launch, executing major events, developing new program concepts and bringing to life. You will also serve as a key stakeholder in regional or team meetings and initiatives. * Undergraduate degree from a reputed institution; advanced degree in a business-related discipline is desirable * 10 years of relevant professional experience * Experience in communications preferably in a professional services environment or agency environment with a versatile toolkit and set of expertise * Established track record for scaling executive visibility through multi-channel platform including speaking events, media, social media, thought leadership, etc. * Proven experience with negotiating contracts, operating under pressure and executing complex events with a keen attention to detail * Strong instincts and ability to work collaboratively across tenures and role types; ability to successfully navigate ambiguous work environments * Developed sense of entrepreneurship and ability to execute * Highly results-oriented and collaborative leadership style * Exceptional writing and editorial skills; ability to distill complex ideas into accessible internal and external copy * Demonstrated ability to rapidly absorb a wide range of complex business, communications and policy issues and synthesize succinctly in written and oral form * Willingness and ability to travel at least 25%; flexibility to accommodate occasional last-minute requests
