Property Controller Dynamite real estate accounting opportunity exists for a rising star who would like to join a renowned, leading retail commercial real estate companies in the DC region. The Controller will report directly to the Director of Property Accounting and will be responsible for overseeing staff accountants and an AP/AR staff in ensuring full general ledger accounting procedures and policies are adhered to for an assigned portfolio of mixed-use commercial real estate properties. Position Breakdown: Oversee daily GL operations, accounting processes and related activities Assist with monthly/quarterly account transaction closings and cut-off dates Analyze financial statements, including current monthly, quarterly and year-to-date variances Review journal entries and bank reconciliations (prepared by Staff) Review of monthly financial packages for owners and lender compliance Review and publish timely financial statements for quality presentation Review balance sheet supporting schedules including capital improvements, straight line rents, and depreciation as required Supervise a team of 2-3 staff Review/Prepare cash flow projections as required per asset/portfolio Review lender draw packages prepared by Staff Accountant for submission in compliance with loan requirements Review annual budgets for compliance to management agreement and monthly reporting Review year-end audit and tax packages as required Approve invoices in AP Software for submission for payment, batch invoices for check processing. Preferred Experience/Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting CPA or CPA path preferred Five (5) or more years of accounting experience with Three (3) years of management experience Real estate property accounting expertise is required Commercial real estate background is a plus MRI, Yardi and Nexus systems are helpful Advanced MS Excel skills required Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment and meet demanding deadlines Be detail-oriented and possess critical thinking skills Excellent organization, communication, written, and presentational skills Must be able to work well with all levels of management and clients Culture & Compensation: Growing, stable, team-minded culture and company $100,000-$120,000 base salary Annual target bonus (competitive and paid out twice during calendar year) Competitive benefits, vacation/PTO, 401k and medical/health benefits Growth opportunity!
