Raytheon Technologies is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to provide subject matter expertise and engineering support to a US Government program. This person will join a multidisciplinary team composed of chemists, material scientists, mechanical/electrical engineers, aerospace, and cyber engineers. The work environment is a very collegial atmosphere with ever-changing technical challenges that elicits excitement and challenge with each new day.The senior engineer will serve as a member of a team that is responsible for monitoring and facilitating technical development and production projects being performed for a Government customer. Job duties include ensuring that system requirements and specifications are consistent with operational deployment environments, recommending innovative solutions for technical and operational problems, monitoring and documenting component and system tests, ensuring compliance with Government program management practices, supporting program control gates and engineering review boards, and authoring and reviewing project documentation. The senior engineer will serve as a technical subject matter expert for a variety of power system projects. Experience in the design and/or operation of industrial power system equipment, 3-phase power distribution systems, transformers and control systems in low, medium- and high-voltage environments is required.Roles and responsibilities center around quickly responding to client knowledge gaps by educating oneself followed by training/teaching the government task managers, as well as internal customer departments, on the relevant technologies. The ultimate goal in the power area is to help external contractors develop, test, and build capabilities to counter technical advances being made by foreign entities. Duties will include, but are not limited to:Provide technical expertise on domestic and foreign power infrastructureProvide customer training and technology transferLearn unfamiliar, or leading edge, technologies to stay current on advancementsReview intelligence reportingCollaborate with internal customers on defining research requirements and strategic mission objectivesIdentify/Eliminate system vulnerabilitiesReview external contractor/vendor technical proposals, experimental results, deliverables, and final reportsSupport customer test activitiesReview contractor test bed facility documentation and experimental test plansPrepare, and often deliver, briefing materials to mid-level to senior client managementPerform troubleshootingReview technical specificationsSupport Customer Review BoardAnomaly resolutionCONUS travel to government contractor facilities (one week per month)Support installation and deployment opportunitiesRequired Skills:Minimum years of 10 years of related experience and MasterA cents € (TM) s degree (preferably Electrical Engineering, Physics) 3+ years of experience in electrical power system design and/or system operations; hands-on field experience is highly desired.Knowledge of system test and validation processesAbility to reverse engineer Experience with root cause analysis and troubleshootingExperience with vulnerability assessment and risk managementExcellent communication skills Team-orientedKnowledge of power infrastructure protection, distribution, security, failsafe, monitoring, and redundancy architecture; backup power generation systemsAbility to understand fundamental physics associated with capacitative discharge, switches, uninterrupted power supplies, etc. Willingness to become acquainted with new technologyConfiguration management experienceDesired Skills:Experience with project portfolio management to help balance strategic and quick reaction capabilities within budget constraints and windows of opportunityAbility to work under tight deadlines Understanding the global procurement supply chain of power generation componentsAbility to predict system-level performance implications of minor technical modifications Flexibility to adjust technical direction as intelligence picture changes, or becomes more definedHelp define initial scope and assess technical feasibility of proposed development efforts Must be a US Citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance with poly and be crossover eligible.Due to a customer requirement, as a condition of employment for this position, the successful candidate will be required to obtain and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to commencing employment or submit to regular COVID testing.187419Raytheon is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
