Art Teacher - Elementary, Middle School, High School
Classroom Teacher Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc. SALARY View Teachers Salary Scale Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Teachers. Hours Full time 10-month position (190 contract days). Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit I (Certificated) bargaining unit. FLSA: Exempt Qualifications Eligibility for the Maryland State Department of Education teaching certificate with art endorsement. Knowledgeable of the curriculum, the educational program, and public relations. Must possess leadership and personal qualities necessary to work effectively with students, teachers, and administrators. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using the English language when deemed necessary. Essential Functions Develop and administer curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives. Promote a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning. Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translatess lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for an art assistant and/or volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads evaluate their job performance. Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents. Ensure that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom. Attend to such activities as faculty meetings, PTA meetings, parent meetings, and other teaching-related duties as specified in Article 4 of the Negotiated Agreement between the Wicomico County Board of Education and the Wicomico County Education Association. Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
