Postdoctoral Research Fellow The George Mason University Department of Physics and Astronomy, within the College of Science, invites highly qualified candidates to apply for a Postdoctoral Fellow position. About the Position: The Center for Computational Fluid Dynamics at George Mason University is seeking a qualified Post-Doctoral candidate for a new effort in the field of multiscale high-yield blast physics. Responsibilities:Development, modification and application of large-scale, production codes to multiscale high-yield blast physics problems;Running large-scale problems on supercomputing platforms;Interaction with several national teams working on this project;Attendance of meetings with the aim of briefing other groups and progress and developments;Independent compilation of data, results of runs, and writing of progress reports and publications. Required Qualifications: Completed a PhD in the field of Physics or Aerospace Engineering;Demonstrated working and authorship (i.e. code-writing) experience with large-scale computational fluid dynamics codes;Solid knowledge of shock physics;Knowledge of the FORTRAN and C programming languages;Knowledge and experience with high-performance computing platforms;US citizenship. Preferred Qualifications:Ability to work independently, as well as collaborate with a multidisciplinary team; Experience in managing and reporting on large data sets;Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
