Strategic Modeling and Data Analyst, College of Engineering and ComputingThe George Mason University Office of the Dean, within the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), is looking for a highly motivated, organized and people-oriented Strategic Modeling and Data Analyst. About the Department:The purpose of the CEC, Office of the Dean is to oversee all education, research, development, and administrative activities within the College by providing direction and structure and by working with the associate and assistant deans, individual department chairs, and center directors. The CEC leadership team consisting of the Dean, Interim Divisional Deans, Associate Deans, Department Chairs, and Program and Center Directors work closely in collaboration with the Offices of the President, Provost, and Senior Vice President of Administration to identify as many resources and opportunities for students within CEC.About the Position: The Strategic Modeling and Data Analyst position is essential for the College of Engineering and Computing to be able to provide key stakeholders with the analyses needed to make data-informed strategic, operational, and tactical decisions. The position is expected to perform complex analysis, forecasting, and modeling by utilizing data from multiple internal and external sources. The Strategic Modeling and Data Analyst will report to the Director of Finance for CEC. Responsibilities: Identify data needs and produce reports, dashboards and other data visualizations to be used in planning, analysis and dissemination of information;Develop and evaluate forecasting models that consider historical trends in student enrollment and retention, strategic goals, future job market demands, and budget implications;Support the data analysis and reporting requirements of the Break Through Tech Grant, a grant to propel more students who identify as women and non-binary into tech education-and ultimately tech careers-through curriculum innovation, career access, and community building;Assist the Chief Diversity Officer with data analysis and reporting to support implementation and reporting on the CEC Diversity and Inclusive Excellence Plan;Develop and maintain a calendar of regular data requests and reports to share with CEC stakeholders;Assess college data reporting processes and ensure college metrics are consistent with the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning (OIEP); Assist in strategic planning, including defining objectives, implementation of activities to reach targets, and reporting. Required Qualifications: Master's degree in related field (Finance, Statistics, Data Analytics) or Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of experience;Proven understanding of forecast methodologies;Knowledge of statistical software and modeling techniques (e.g. R, SAS, Stata, SPSS, Excel);Demonstrated ability to develop and complete projects independently;Ability to manage multiple tasks, projects and details simultaneously;Ability to work independently and accomplish assignments on deadline;Excellent written and verbal communication skills;Proven ability to perform in-depth data analysis and present insights in a clear manner; High proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentations. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of higher education environment;Familiarity with engineering accreditation organizations and requirements;Demonstrated experience working with college level or senior level assessment projects for a complex academic organization; Working knowledge of relevant data warehouses (e.g Banner, Microstrategy);Comfort and skill with public speaking; Experience with web-based data collection tools.
