Term Assistant Professor in Classical Studies

The George Mason University, Department of Modern and Classical Languages invites applications for a one-year renewable Term Assistant Professor in Classical Studies, to begin August 2021. Teaching responsibilities are 12 credit hours (four courses) of undergraduate instruction per semester; all levels of undergraduate Latin, Greek and Roman literature in translation, Greek and Roman history, mythology, and special topics in ancient culture and reception. Service responsibilities include some undergraduate advising.

Required Qualifications:

  • M.A. in Classics or ancient Mediterranean History;
  • Demonstrated excellence in college teaching on the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Classics or ancient Mediterranean History.
