Undergraduate Adjunct Faculty, Economics The George Mason University, Department of Economics in the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, is seeking adjunct faculty to teach in-person undergraduate-level courses. About the Department of Economics: The Economics Department at George Mason University has developed a significant international reputation for a particular approach to economics. The Mason style of economics fuses traditional micro- and macroeconomics with scholarship in the fields of Public Choice (founded by Nobel Laureate and Mason Professor Emeritus James Buchanan), Austrian Economics, and Experimental Economics (the latter founded by Nobel Laureate and Mason Professor Emeritus Vernon Smith). Overall, Mason's economics program focuses on society and analyzes policy issues from both theoretical and applied perspectives. About the Position: The Instructor will be responsible for teaching in-person courses for the Department's undergraduate degree programs. Courses enroll both majors and non-majors from across the university. Possible courses could include: ** ECON 330 - Public Finance ** ECON 355 - The Political Economy of Nonprofit Institutions ** ECON 361 - Economic Development of Latin America ** ECON 362 - African Economic Development ** ECON 374 - Health Economics ** ECON 380 - Economies in Transition ** ECON 390 - International Economics ** ECON 420 - International Money and Finance ** ECON 421 - Financial Economics Responsibilities: * Serve as the Instructor of record for undergraduate-level course(s); * Obtain materials needed for classes, including texts and other materials and utilize Blackboard for disseminating course material; * Maintain consistent communication with students enrolled in the class throughout the course session; * Meet with students, individually through office hours, and as a class as assigned; * Implement assessment instruments (e.g., problem sets, quizzes, exams) as included in the course design; * Maintain contact with the Department's Undergraduate Office throughout the course session with updates; * Enter final course grades in line with all University deadlines. Required Qualifications: * 18 hours of graduate coursework in economics. Preferred Qualifications: * Master's or Ph.D. in Economics; * Prior post-secondary teaching experience.
