Overview

In pursuit of service excellence, the Property Manager and Artist Relations - Torpedo Factory Art Center performs diverse duties related to the management and the operations of the Torpedo Factory Art Center work. This position will manage leases and subleases for the Torpedo Factory Art Center. Administrative, communicational, and organizational skills are needed to be successful in this position. Major areas of responsibility include having a working knowledge of recreational and cultural activities, and/or an arts discipline; and demonstrate understanding of lease/rental management. Candidate will be responsible for the management of leases and subleases for tenants within the Torpedo Factory Art Center, ensuring a high-level of customer service and creating exceptional experiences. Additionally, the position will serve as the point of contact for all artists and leaseholders. He/she will be responsible for organizing minor/internal programs, in the form of sessions, classes, or meet-and-greets, that help provide administrative, business, and community building support to tenants. Work hours will include some weekends and some nights.

The Opportunity:

The Property Manager and Artist Relations position:
  • Communicates with, and represents the Art Center to, tenants while serving as a liaison between staff and artists.
  • Develops and manages tenant business-related programming.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates the usefulness of administrative tools for staff and tenants.
  • Ensures procedures are followed and makes recommendations for new procedures.
  • Investigates and resolves artists complaints, property complaints, or renter violations.
  • Manages all subleases and leases of the Torpedo Factory Art Center.
  • Manages meetings with tenant artists and staff at least once a month.
  • Manages the internal e-news process.
  • Participates in staff meetings, in-service trainings, sessions, and workshops.
  • Onboarding and offboarding of new tenants/artists; also assists in the management of artist jurying processes.
  • Serves as Manager on Duty for the building on select days.
  • Performs related work as required.

Minimum & Additional Requirements

High School Diploma or GED; one-year experience managing written agreements, working with diverse populations at the level of manager or higher; or equivalent combination of 3 years’ experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in arts administration or business and examples of career progression. More than 3 years’ experience as a program administrator in the field of art or property management (or related field) with at least one year related to managing legal documents such as leases or contracts.
