Description:

Under the guidance of the Director, responsible for the comprehensive clinical operation of the Radiation Center. Scope includes assuring the delivery of quality patient care thru implementation of quality rad oncology standards and guidelines. Includes direct supervision and management of all clinical staff and operations and assuring exemplary customer service and efficient operation of the center. In addition, provides nursing process for both physicians at the Center.

Location: Holy Cross Health has two hospitals and four healthcare centers all a short driving distance from Washington DC and Baltimore, MD
General Summary:

Will provide patient care and educational counseling for patients and their families undergoing radiation therapy treatment. Collaborates with radiation oncologists, medical professionals and other staff to ensure the quality of care provided. Effectively communicates fundamental patient /family information and variances from patient goals to the health care team. Involves appropriate members of the multidisciplinary health care team in providing treatment and continuing care of the patient as needed.

Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable):

Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse

BLS certified within the probationary period.

Oncology Nursing Certification (OCN) preferred or successfully obtained within 2 years of employment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. Masters Degree in nursing, administration, business, or related field preferred.

At least 3 years of nursing experience with 2 years recent supervisory or managerial experience required.

Demonstrates capability of establishing and maintaining effective, cooperative working relationships with Medical, Nursing and Professional staff.

Computer skills to include data management and productivity applications.

Skill in data analysis and interpretation.

Reads, writes, speaks and comprehends English language.

Working Conditions:

Clinical environment contains potential exposure to radiation sources and chemicals with minimal risk of injury when established radiation safety and universal standards are followed.

May be required to lift up to 35 pounds.

Must be able to bend body downward at the waist and be able to kneel.

Must be able to utilize a computer for periods of time throughout the shift.

Must have good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Must be able to physically operate the equipment used in the job.

Must have auditory acuity.

Supervision Exercised:

Directly supervises the Chief Therapist, Radiation Therapists, Registered Nurses, Dosimetrists, Front Desk Staff, and Billing Coordinator.

Reporting Relationship:

Directly supervised by and accountable to the Director of Radiation Oncology.

Works under the direction of the Radiation Oncologist.

Assumes accountability and responsibility for the work direction of other staff as assigned.
