This National Guard position is for a ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN (INDEFINITE) (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1746000 and is part of the VA 192 FTR WG, National Guard.

Responsibilities

As an Administrative Support Technician (Title 32), GS-0303-07, you will perform the below duties:
  • Serves as the primary advisor to the Commander for all unit administrative support functions. Implements IM policies and procedures related to assigned areas of responsibility. Recognizes need, initiates action, directs or personally formulates new administrative policies and procedures, and recommends changes designed to improve administrative efforts or services.
  • Serves as the unit personnel database and automated orders system coordinator. Ensures guidance, training, support, and assistance are provided to functional areas. Performs duties used to maintain the integrity and security of database elements and information. Ensures access is limited to authorized individuals.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and oversees the implementation of electronic media and computer systems within the section and throughout the administrative functions of the squadron.
  • Identifies, maintains, and protects official records. Coordinates and processes requests for records and other documentary materials.
  • Ensures technicians are aware of policies, procedures and practices of senior management as they relate to the work of the unit.
  • Accomplishes or assists in accomplishing a variety of military personnel transactions including appointments, enlistments, separations, promotions, duty assignments, transfers, officer and enlisted evaluations, line of duty actions, security clearances, retirements, applications for school, payroll actions, and other personnel and pay actions, and forwards same to a higher level military personnel or finance office.
  • Performs work relating to unit mobility requirements including establishment of mobility folders, passports, publication of special orders, etc.
  • Generates complex queries and reports.
  • Serves as a point of contact for Services (billeting). Duties include ensuring those eligible for overnight billeting accommodations have reservations and travel vouchers are properly filed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement.
  • Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform.

  • Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.

  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.

In the event a permanent employee is accepted for this indefinite position, there will be a change in their tenure from permanent to indefinite. Indefinite appointments may be made permanent at a later date without competition.

WHO CAN APPLY:

GROUP I - All qualified Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-4/SrA - E-6/TSgt) currently employed (permanent) in the Virginia Air National Guard Military Technician Program.
GROUP II - All qualified Virginia Air National Guard Male/Female Enlisted Personnel (E-4/SrA - E-6/TSgt) regardless of employment status (Traditional, Military Technician or AGR). To be considered as a Group II applicant, proof of appointment/enlistment in the Virginia National Guard must be attached if the appointment/enlistment occurred within 60 days prior to, or during, the advertisement period. Military Grades: E-4/SrA - E-6/TSgt

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have administrative or clerical experience, education, or training which demonstrates your ability to perform administrative work, as well as experience using computer and automation systems.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Applicant must have at least 12 months of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-06 level, or equivalent pay band in other pay systems in the Federal government. This experience may also have been obtained in the private sector, but must demonstrate that it is comparable to the GS grade indicated. This experience must include activities such as:
  • Experience in the interpretation and application of regulations, procedures or laws;
  • Experience that provided you with a working knowledge of administrative functions;
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to advise lower graded employees;
  • Experience working independently and setting priorities with very little supervisory control.
