Summary

Due to the Pandemic and individual states with different phases of reopening, the selectee's report date to the official duty station/facility may be delayed until such time as employees are allowed to report to the workplace. The person selected may telework up to the maximum extent possible, up to and including full time, until it is determined by state and Federal officials that employees are allowed to report to the workplace where this position is located, on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

These types of positions administer, develop, deliver, and support information technology (IT) systems and services. The paramount requirement is knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods; e.g., data storage, software applications, and networking. Information technology refers to systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance, or reception of information. Information technology includes computers, network components, peripheral equipment, software, firmware, services, and related sources.

As an IT Specialist (Data Management) at FAA responsibilities include: Work with advanced hardware, software and techniques to develop computational algorithms and statistical methods that find patterns and relationships in large volumes of data.
  • Collect and combine data from multiple sources
  • Uncover and explore anomalous data (including metadata)
  • Apply the scientific process to data evaluation, performing statistical inference, and data mining
  • Develop analytic plans, engineer supporting algorithms, and design and implement solutions which execute analytic plans.
  • Design and develop tools and techniques for analysis
  • Analyze data using mathematical/statistical methods
  • Evaluate, document, and communicate research processes, analyses, and results to customers, peers, and leadership
  • Create interpretable visualizations
  • Proficient in applied programming and/or manipulation of data with a programing language such as Python, R, SQL or Java. (others languages will be considered)
  • Develop and deploy automated processes to identify, collect, process, and analyze large data sets.
  • Use of data visualizations for exploratory comparative analysis by way of scripts, algorithms, and/or predictive models.
  • Cleaning, filtering, transforming data, and/or enriching data.
  • Work with Jupyter Hub, R Server, or other development environment.

Work with S3 and various data formats such as JSON, XML, AVRO, PARQUET, or others.

Travel Required

Occasional travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis. The travel may be for training or other work-related duties.

To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-H / FG/GS-10-12. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.

Specialized experience may include but not limited to: Experience with data analysis and visualization to include analytic techniques such as classification, regression, similarity matching, clustering, co-occurrence grouping, profiling, link prediction, data reduction, or causal modeling.

Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
