Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.We are looking for you to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer based out of Annapolis, MD.What You'll get to Do:The Manufacturing Engineer will support Manufacturing Operations Engineering in Northrop Grumman's Undersea Systems division. The Engineer will be responsible for the implementation of the latest industry manufacturing technology and techniques and will also incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan. The Manufacturing Engineer will also inspect performance of machinery, equipment and tools to verify their efficiency; and will investigate and initiate corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality. The chosen candidate will provide guidance to Engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques and will ensure processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.The Manufacturing Engineer conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with Manufacturing. She/he will be challenged to work with Design Engineering to enable more producible designs as well as Inspection, validating that output meets the drawing and specification requirements for the product life cycle.The Manufacturing Engineer must be able to work individually as well as collaborate, share, and engage in teamwork with a diverse group of individuals. He/she must be able to work tactically; be aware of the future strategy; and have solid communication skills, strong leadership, collaboration, interpersonal, and team-building skills.Roles and Responsibilities:Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling.Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions.Incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality.Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques.Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.The ideal candidate will have a background in Manufacturing/Process Engineering, a solid understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) and hands-on experience with tool and fixture design.
