About the Position:
The Public Address Announcer is responsible for game day announcing for George Mason University intercollegiate athletic sporting events.
Responsibilities:
- Read pre-game announcements, introduction of the National Anthem and player introductions;
- Read in-game announcements of game events, and scripted announcements during stoppages of play;
- Read halftime announcements including game statistics and promotional events;
- Read post-game announcements as directed;
- As directed by the designated game manager, provides announcements to crowd during the game to ensure a healthy, competitive atmosphere exists for all home athletic contests
Required Qualifications:
- Previous sports announcing experience;
- Strong attention to detail;
- Expressive but clear and controlled vocal skills;
- Varied vocal delivery based on game situation;
- Advanced knowledge of the sports including, but not limited to, basketball, baseball, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and volleyball;
- Flexibility to work: nights, weekends, holidays, post season games and other non-game day events;
- Prior experience as a public address announcer and/or on-air talent on television or radio.
