Unemployment Claims Assistant

The George Mason University, Human Resources and Payroll Department is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated person to provide support completing unemployment claims responses as an Unemployment Claims Assistant. Position Summary: The Unemployment Claims Assistant will report to the Director of Employee Relations as a part of the larger Employee Relations Team and will be responsible for working with the Employee Relations Assistant to handle unemployment claims response activities.

This position is telework eligible, but some on campus presence is required.

Responsibilities: * Search for and compile employment data from Ellucian Banner system to provide in responses to unemployment claims; * Use Ellucian Banner system in order to identify appropriate department points of contact for claimant's employment information; * Communicate and collaborate with departmental points of contact and occasionally other teams within Human Resources & Payroll to request and clarify employment information; * May occasionally assist with auditing activities of unemployment claim response documents.

Required Qualifications: * Strong attention to detail; * Strong organizational skills; * Ability to remain motivated while handling repetitive work; * Analytical skills and mathematical ability; * Ability to independently prioritize work and meet deadlines; * Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism; * Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with diverse individuals; * Proficiency in and experience with Windows and Microsoft Office (including Excel and Word).

Preferred Qualifications: * Demonstrated experience using the Ellucian Banner system; * Demonstrated experience responding to and/or working with unemployment claims; * Demonstrated experience working in a high-volume office environment; * An interest in and/or experience working in Human Resources.
