Summary

The position is located at the Armed Forces Retirement Home in Resident Services, Admissions. The Contact Representative is responsible for carrying out overall objectives of the Admissions Office and ensuring the effectiveness in meeting campus-operating programs. The Incumbent of this position conveys to the Residents through guidance, example and problem solving skills that the Admissions Office meets the needs of the Residents with supportive solutions.

Responsibilities

As a CONTACT REPRESENTATIVE (OA), you will:
  • Assemble paperwork/charts necessary for residency at the Armed Forces Retirement Home, ensuring all Emergency Data is current (Estate matters, Power of Attorney, wills (executor/executrix), Living Wills; conservator, funeral plans); assist in scheduling arrival of new Residents, making necessary arrangements prior to arrival, including ensuring Resident Sponsor has been assigned, and enter data for residents in an electronic Resident Information System (eRIS).
  • Disseminate information concerning AFRH policy and admission guidelines to other Federal agencies and prospective applicants.
  • Assure that New Resident Sponsors are suitable for the job, oriented and scheduled in advance of new
    admission.
  • Coordinate New Resident Orientation under direction of Admissions Officer.
  • Health Checks: as part of the Resident Services team, you will be required to assist with the Health Check process to insure the health and wellbeing of the AFRH Residents.

    You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

    This position requires a certified typist. You must be able to type at least 40 words per minute.

    AND

    Specialized experience for the GS-05 is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 level in the Federal Service or equivalent.
    Specialized experience includes:
    Applying a standardized body of rules, procedures, and operations sufficient to perform a full range of support assignments (examples of support assignments may include: reviewing reports, recognizing errors, and reconciling problems); AND
    providing customer service with individuals.

    OR

    Completion of 4 years of education above high school

    OR

    A combination of the education and experience as listed above in which the percentage of experience and education totals 100%. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement.

    - Wear required safety clothing and/or equipment required by the position. This may include safety shoes, hard hats, hearing protection, gloves, masks, etc.
    - Because the AFRH's mission requires uninterrupted, direct human support and medical care for its Residents, this position is considered essential for continuing AFRH operations. Therefore, the incumbent is expected to arrive for duty on time, as scheduled, and to complete the assigned tour during emergency situations such as hazardous weather.
