  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to develop feasible mission and instrument architecture outlining the baseline approach to the various mission elements: flight, ground, launch vehicle, concept of operations, and instruments.
  • Conduct engineering trade studies to help mature mission and instrument concepts. Studies look at design options and determine the system-level impacts of those options, optimizing performance within cost and schedule constraints.
  • Lead the overall technical team across multiple disciplines, providing direction, gathering information, identifying risks, and making decisions to improve the likelihood of mission success.
  • Manage the technical baseline by establishing and managing requirements and technical resources.
  • Plan and perform verification and validation of the system. Define tests and analyses necessary to demonstrate the system meets its requirements and will meet science objectives.
