Responsibilities

As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist (Law Enforcement) and Special Agent in Charge of the Protective Detail, you will:
  • Manage and direct the security and protection services for the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and, when warranted, the Deputy Secretary, and other senior officials of the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • Provide planning advice and recommendations on new policy, resolution of complex vulnerabilities, crisis management, and threat response.
  • Coordinate preparedness for executive protection of HUD officials.
  • Oversee the Protective Services detail in conducting advance protection surveys for individuals who, because of their position, are vital to the continuity of U.S. Government and to national security.

The official duty station for this position will be in Washington, District of Columbia. Failure to report to duty at this location may be grounds for a disciplinary action, including removal.

  • Qualifications

    You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
    Specialized Experience: For the GS-15, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
    -Experience as a Senior Special Agent responsible for providing and directing executive protection for a high-ranking government official; AND
    -Served as a Senior Special Agent in Charge or Assistant Special Agent in Charge and supervised a team of agents in planning, organizing, administering, and coordinating the full spectrum of protective service operations; AND
    -Viewed as an expert in protection, including the full range of policies, practices, and requirements to support executive protection to ensure the safety and security of a high-ranking governmental official from a wide spectrum of threats.


    Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service . One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. To ensure full credit for your work experience, please indicate dates of employment by month/day/year, and indicate number of hours worked per week on your resume.

    Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
    For the GS-15 you must have been at the GS-14 level for 52 weeks.

    Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    • A one year probationary period may be required.
    • A one year supervisory or managerial probationary period may be required.
    • Must successfully complete a background investigation.
    • Public Trust - Background Investigation will be required.
