Westat has an immediate opening for a Senior Epidemiologist/Study Director - Omics to join our team of leading researchers in supporting several types of “-omics” studies such as array- and sequence-based genome-wide association studies, and molecular epidemiologic studies focused on the metabolome and microbiome. As a Senior Epidemiologist, you will lead and support large and small epidemiology studies in transfusion medicine, cancer epidemiology and infectious diseases by integrating large-scale genotype and other genome-wide datasets with comprehensive clinical and environmental data, to examine causal associations of exposures with disease outcomes. You will collaborate and consult with networks of external investigators and internal project team members on your work designing and implementing multi-site network studies. You will provide epidemiology and data management support including developing protocols, overseeing, and conducting data management and analysis for Westat projects to support and contribute to scientific peer reviewed publications.

Job Responsibilities:
• Responsible for all stages of research projects from protocol development through data collection, analysis, and reporting.
• Integrate epidemiologic, clinical, and -omics data (genomic, metabolomic, microbiome) to inform public health action.
• Design, develop, and deploy data pipelines for GWAS data mining.
• Conduct data cleaning and analysis on complex datasets. Analyze, interpret, summarize, and present or publish results.
• Manage project budgets, developing technical, staffing, and cost proposals.
• Keep the project on schedule and within budget.
• Leadership role in business development and writing proposals.
• Supervising staff and interacting with clients.

Basic Qualifications:
• PhD with 3+ years of experience. 
• Advanced knowledge of and experience designing and conducting -omics studies. 
• Experience collecting and analyzing data -omics data 
• Experience drafting statistical analysis plans and overseeing analysis.
• Programming experience in R, SAS or comparable

Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in a contracting environment 
• Experience managing project budgets, developing technical, staffing and cost proposals.
