Housing programs include permanent supportive, rapid rehousing, transitional, and affordable rental housing. Supportive services include case management, employment services, clinical services, housing counseling, resident services, life skills and youth programming.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH) Case Manager Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the permanent supportive housing case management team in their efforts to assist families experiencing homelessness in obtaining and maintaining permanent housing in locations scattered throughout Washington, DC. The PSH Supervisor guides Case Managers in providing family case management in line with Housing Up’s adopted principles and practices to ensure that families are treated in an empowering, dignified, and sensitive manner. The PSH Supervisor also assists the Director of Permanent Supportive Housing with administrative tasks related to program management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

•    Provides day-to-day supervision of Case Managers, implementing all applicable human resource policies and procedures
•    Guides staff in providing family case management utilizing trauma informed care and strengths based approach that is in line with Housing First and harm reduction principles to empower the families and encourage their autonomy and sense of control. Supports staff in handling difficult or complex cases
•    Assists with training case management staff in Housing Up’s case management approach, trauma informed care principles, harm reduction practices, and motivational interviewing as well as in program-specific policies and procedures
•    Promotes professional development of staff
•    Oversees the coordination of services with Housing Up’s Clinical Manager
•    Ensures timely and accurate data management including case notes, assessments, data entry into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS), and other data management systems
•    Assists the Director of Permanent Supportive Housing with reporting and administrative tasks related to program management
•    Provides intervention for program participants and serve as point of contact for initial grievances
•    Provides on call coverage as needed as part of the programmatic management team rotation
•    Attends internal and external meetings on behalf of the Agency and Director of Permanent Supportive Housing as needed
•    Other duties as required

EDUCATIONAL & WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

•    Master’s degree in social work, counseling, or a related human services field
•    Minimum of three years of experience providing counseling or case management services to individuals/families experiencing homelessness or other related populations.
•    Working knowledge of the theories, principles, techniques, and practices of social service delivery systems.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL EFFORT


•    Requires the ability to sit up to 3-6 hours per day with intermittent occasional walking and standing
•    Housing Up office hours are 9am-5pm, but case manager supervisors are expected to adjust their schedules to accommodate programmatic needs on evenings and weekends, as needed
•    Must be available to participate in after hours on-call rotation, as well as be on call during inclement weather

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

•    Knowledge of MS Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•    May require some weekend and evening hours
•    Travel within the Washington, DC community is required
•    Valid driver’s license and vehicle required, as well as proof of auto insurance

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Housing Up offers a competitive benefits package including health insurance, a retirement plan, paid vacation, sick leave, and commuter benefits. The salary range for this position is $58k - $65k.
