Summary
The Avionics and Electrical Systems Branch provides expertise and leadership in the design, development, and verification of avionics systems architectures, avionics and electrical interfaces compatibility, electrical harnessing, and electrical ground support equipment (EGSE).
You will serve as the electrical ground support equipment engineer in the Avionics and Electrical Systems Branch in support of the Mars Sample Return mission for the Capture, Containment Return System (MSR/CCRS).

Qualifications
In addition to the basic education requirement (shown below), you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade, which has equipped you with the particular competencies needed to successfully perform the duties of the position described above.
To qualify at the GS-13 level, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the Federal service that includes at least two of the following: Experience with electrical ground systems for testing, validation, and verification efforts; utilizing and applying National Instruments products, such as LabView, instrumentation of test equipment (eg. power supplies, current, voltage, resistance measuring, data communication interfaces); assessing analog/digital circuit design (e.g. schematic capture, parts identification, printing wiring board layout, assembly, testing) and; identifying cost, schedule and technical deliverables to customers.
Your resume must include a clear and detailed narrative description, in your own words, of how you meet the required specialized experience. Education
You must have successfully completed a bachelor's or graduate degree with a major in either a) engineering from a college or university that has ABET accredited engineering programs or b) Physical Science, Mathematics, Life Science, Computer Science*, or other field of physical science.
*Note: Curriculum must include 30 semester hours of course work in a combination of mathematics, statistics and computer science. Of the 30 semester hours, 15 must be in any combination of statistics and mathematics which includes differential and integral calculus.
Degrees in engineering technology are not considered to be qualifying for this position.

Summary

You will serve as the electrical ground support equipment engineer in the Avionics and Electrical Systems Branch in support of the Mars Sample Return mission for the Capture, Containment Return System (MSR/CCRS).

Responsibilities
- Coordinates the testing, modifications, and fabrications of associated electrical harnessing.
- Develops wiring diagrams for Electrical Interface Control Document (EICD) and contribute to the EICD.
- Develops safe-to-mate procedures and perform them. Work closely with Technicians to develop needed hardware.
- Works closely with Software Engineers for rack development and other discipline engineers for additional support.
- Supports the assigned product development lead and works with the other subsystem leads as needed.
- Provides support to develop, modify, fabricate, assembly, and test any electrical components as needed, such as but not limited to, test harnesses, rack wiring, and test chamber hardware.
- Generates and reviews documentation and drawings ? this includes EICDs, requirements, and specifications.
- Participates in planning efforts which include reviewing and providing inputs (eg. labor, parts, budget, schedule).
