Our vision is to change and save lives in our community by empowering hope, safety, recovery, wellness, independence, and community integration.We are seeking a Full-Time (40 hours/week) Peer Specialist on the Emergency Services Team in Arlington County, VA. RESPONSIBILITIES:Provides support to clients who are living with behavioral health conditions by validating experiences, conveying hope and providing recovery education and resources, using personal lived experience as appropriate to connect with and support clients;Act as part of the multi-disciplinary team by engaging clients and their families or supports, educating them about crises and options for interventions;Provide telephone support as needed and perform follow-up calls and visits after an emergency placement;Provide referrals for services and resources within the community;Facilitate and/or co-facilitate psychoeducational groups, including for Mandatory Outpatient Treatment (MOT);Assist Emergency Services to track hospital releases to ensure service continuity;Work with a Co-Responder to respond to calls in the community;Work with staff and other community partners to implement and promote recovery-oriented training programs and opportunities.QUALIFICATIONS:Must be a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist. May consider individuals who are in the process of obtaining certification.High school diploma or GED; some college a plus.Must be a person with lived experience (past or present) of mental health disorder and /or substance use.Ability to work in a high-energy, demanding, crisis intervention environment.Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must have a vehicle or access to a vehicle.Strong communication skills.Must be a self-starter who possesses strong organizational and interpersonal skills.Our contract requires employees must be fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus or able to provide medical/religious exemption documentation.Amount of Travel and any other Special Conditions or Requirements:Use of personal vehicle to travel within service delivery area (Arlington County)."Changing Lives.
