Work directly with the Manager of Accounting Policy, leadership in Finance, and stakeholders across the enterprise to:(a) Produce the appropriate accounting assessments and recommendations associated with business initiatives related to products, services, and transactions(b) Monitor and communicate emerging or changing accounting and regulatory standards(c) Assist in representing Navy Federal externally on accounting related matters(d) Develop and maintain an accounting policy handbook for broad consumptionDirect report to the Manager of Accounting PolicyResponsibilities:Communicate summaries of proposals, standards, regulations, and developments affecting Navy Federal in the areas of accounting and disclosureAid in the clear and concise communication of complex accounting and reporting issues to nonaccountantsGain a working understanding of Navy Federal's systems and dataIdentify issues requiring consultations and advice provided to the business and operational accounting teamsLead the processes to effectively document complex accounting and reporting issues and work with external auditors and regulators to support accounting positions, as neededForm relationships with product line personnel to stay informed of new or changing products, services, and transactions to provide decision useful advisory services to leaders in a timely mannerAssist in compiling periodic training to finance and accounting teams on emerging accounting and regulatory standardsMaintain strong organizational skills to drive productivity throughout the teamCompile existing accounting policy documentation to formulate an organized, userA' ?friendly accounting policy handbook for broad consumptionUnderstand the financial reporting data lineage framework to effectively provide advisory services to the business and operational accounting teamsRender assistance in representing the organization externally on matters affiliated with accounting and disclosure issues identified within the financial services industryContribute to a culture of horizontal collaboration by actively working across business units and sharing knowledgePerform other duties as assignedQualifications and Education Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experienceExperience in accounting/finance leadership experience, preferably with a Big 4 public accounting firm and/or in a publicly traded banking or financial services environmentCertified Public Accountant designationStrong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial industry regulations (ie NCUA, OCC, FDIC, etc)Extensive experience accounting for loans, securities, derivatives, and other complex financial instrumentsAdvanced skill in communicating complex accounting concepts to nonA' ?accountant business leadersAbility to build relationships with executive management, internal, and external stakeholdersAdvanced skill demonstrating thought leadership in providing vision & strategic thinkingEffective mentoring skills and the ability to make sound long and shortA' ?term business decisionsAdvanced experience in managing crossA' ?functional, multiA' ?dimensional teams and projects of the highest complexity which have business risk and impactAdvanced experience in identifying relevant analytical problems, determining appropriate diagnostic methods and solving unique and complex issues/problemsDatabase technological skills - Access, SQL, HadoopDesired Qualifications and Education Requirements:Master's Degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field, or the equivalent combination of training, education and experienceExperience with NCUA regulations.Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pmLocation: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180Salary range: [$98,600] to [$139,400]Equal Employment OpportunityNavy Federal values, celebrates, and enacts diversity in the workplace.
