About the Role Reporting to the Director of Talent, you will touch all aspects of the employee lifecycle. You'll have a core role in implementing our new Talent Philosophy, creating, and implementing processes to support new policies. You will provide thought partnership to our small but mighty department and will be looked upon to provide operational support. With a strong commitment to equity, you'll ensure that all policies are implemented in alignment to our Commitment Race, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion work ( . As a systems thinker, you'll improve current processes and create new ones, documenting them all. You'll clearly communicate processes to all staff, knowing that processes only work when staff know how to use them. You'll ensure that our new hires have a strong start through your ownership of our onboarding and orientation experience. You will cross-collaborate with our Information Technology team to guarantee new employees have their equipment and IT systems access on day one. You will manage our bi-weekly payroll, stay abreast of current employment law to keep our employee handbook updated, and work cross functionally with external partners to administer our benefits program. As we grow over the next few years and cross the 50-employee threshold, your knowledge of employment law and HR trends will keep us compliant. We'll also leverage your strong client management skills as you work with our external partners to optimize how we use our HRIS. You'll oversee the annual review process and professional development, and after thoughtful research will make recommendations for offerings to enhance our learning and development opportunities. You'll create the processes for staff to access these opportunities. Finally, you'll build relationships with DC PCSB staff to become a trusted, knowledgeable point of contact for Human Resources matters. Your presence will be the nuts and bolts of our well-oiled, Human Resources engine. Competencies and Qualifications You are a detail oriented, thorough, and consistent self- starter who understands the value that strong Human Resources processes and practices bring to an organization. You thoughtfully build and maintain relationships, are a systems thinker, and executor. You model constant learning and humility by keeping abreast of changing legislation and talent practices. You enjoy being a brand ambassador, attracting top tier to the DC Public Charter School Board. You understand the importance of approaching work though an equity lens and demonstrate an understanding the role of DEI in the workplace. Your systems thinking and experience in payroll processing will be a bonus. Ideally you have a demonstrated track record in Human Resources, but If you're earlier in your career a degree or current HR certification substitution is acceptable as well. Compensation Salary is competitive and commensurate with prior experience in a similar role. DC PCSB offers a comprehensive benefits plan ( . The salary band for this position is $80,000-90,000.
