Kforce has a client in Hanover, MD that is seeking a Controller. Responsibilities: * Controller will coordinate the timely preparation and distribution of financial reports to management and external users, critically review these reports to ensure accuracy and reliability; Thorough understanding of construction WIP a must * Assist Commercial's leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; Administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate * Evaluate and review accounting procedures, processes and controls to ensure accurate financial reporting, efficient use of personnel and adequate safeguarding of assets * Controller will continually work with other Executive Team members to assess the changes and improvements needed in the company and take action as necessary * Based on projected sales and growth levels, plan for the appropriate staffing of finance personnel * Oversee the annual CPA review of financial statements and the preparation of income tax returns * Review state and federal tax matters that could impact the company and consult with the CPA firm to ensure statutory compliance and full utilization of tax benefits * Controller will define limits of financial risk and keep the company within these limits * Participate in project feasibility and analyses * Report directly to CFO * Assist other managers as needed in developing an understanding of financial issues * Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants * Controller will comply with local, state, and other government reporting (eg Certified reporting) * Accounting degree is a must * 10 years previous experience as a Controller of a major company or division of a large corporation (at least $100M in revenue with multiple divisions) * Public accounting experience preferred * Strong computer skills, Excel a must (ComputerEase experience a plus) * Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills * Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management * Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance personnel Kforce is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
