About the Position:


The College of Education and Human Development is seeking a creative and analytical professional with demonstrated effective communication skills to provide student and administrative office support to the Division of Special Education and disAbility Research. The incumbent must be willing to learn and adapt to new technology, be able to foster positive working relationships, be detail-oriented and self-motivated, and skilled at prioritizing tasks.

Candidates must have exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational abilities; be able to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and guidelines; be able to analyze and solve problems; be able to effectively prioritize tasks; and be able to work independently. The position hours are Monday-Friday 8:30-5:00, Fairfax Campus.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide reception desk coverage. Receptionist duties include answering phones, directing calls and visitors at the front desk, and processing and distributing mail. Assist faculty and staff with general clerical duties including, but not limited to, copying, mailing, faxing, and filing;
  • Respond to data requests to support development of programs. Utilize university systems to collect, organize and summarize data. Identify, modify, and create reports in MicroStrategy;
  • Ensure continuous enhancement of office protocols on customer service. Develop forms and procedures as needed to accomplish duties. Define the actions, tasks and projects that need to be accomplished to effectively prioritize responsibilities. Utilize mature judgement to determine appropriate responses and make effective referrals to assist students, staff, faculty, and Mason visitors;
  • Interface with prospective and current students to respond to general inquiries (email, phone and face-to-face), answer questions about the admissions process and admission status, schedule appointments, and make appropriate referrals to other campus offices;
  • Collaborate with advisors to provide academic administrative support to the unit. Be knowledgeable about Division programs as well as college and university resources. Support academic advisors, Director and faculty in processing and filing student paperwork, student outreach, and student correspondence. Maintain Division social media outlets, and monitor websites and provide updates as needed;
  • Collaborate with the Dean's office, faculty, and college staff and administrators, and contribute to efforts to support the academic success of students;
  • Keep inventory of supplies and communicate monthly supply needs to Purchasing Coordinator.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Minimum of two years in a customer service position;
  • Minimum one year office experience required.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience with higher education, student interaction, and state policies;
  • Experience with Banner and PatriotWeb software;
  • Experience with MicroStrategy.
