Marketing Assistant, College of Visual and Performing Arts

The George Mason University, College of Visual and Performing Arts seeks qualified applicants for a part-time Marketing Assistant. About the Position: The Marketing Assistant will support CVPA's marketing efforts for the seven academic units within the college, additional organizations under the CVPA umbrella, as well as the CVPA brand as a whole.

Responsibilities: * Manage CVPA social media channels including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Facebook and Instagram are the primary consideration; * Create content schedule, post content, and collaborate with CVPA marketing and programming staff on content ideas; * Monitor CVPA academic unit social media (e.g. Dewberry School of Music) and share, retweet, amplify their content on CVPA channels; * Regular virtual meetings with staff for collaboration. (expect 1-3 per day); * Additional tasks may include drafting press releases, proofreading and coordinating the distribution of marketing materials, and assisting with audience engagement activities, among others. Required Qualifications: * Excellent communications skills including writing at a very high level; * Knowledge of industry standards for social media; * Proficiency in social media platforms; * MS Office; * Knowledge of the Arts.

Preferred Qualifications: * B.A. in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related area or equivalent; * Adobe Creative Suite experience; * Previous experience in a university or in an arts environment.
