Infrastructure Condition Assessment Inspector

The George Mason University, Facilities Department invites applications for an Infrastructure Condition Assessment Inspector. Responsibilities:

The Infrastructure Condition Assessment Inspector is responsible for assisting in the coordination, planning and execution of the Infrastructure Condition Assessment Program at George Mason University. This includes: conducting site visits to assess conditions of University owned Infrastructure and site elements and to assure quality/compliance with appropriate codes, safety standards, and construction standards (Roadways, Parking Lots, Sidewalks, Chilled Water and High Temperature Hot Water Distribution Networks, Site Lighting, Electrical, Mechanical and Structural); maintaining Capital Planning/Deferred Maintenance database for new and updated infrastructure and site elements; developing cost/budget estimates for Deferred Maintenance needs and/or projects; and assisting in compiling reports, as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school graduation or equivalent;
  • Minimum of 3-4 years' experience in a facilities maintenance unit/operation or a construction-related field;
  • Must currently possess an appropriate, active, valid motor vehicle operator's license that meets all of GMU's requirements for operating state vehicles and equipment under Mason's Vehicle Use Policy 1411 https://universitypolicy.gmu.edu/policies/vehicle-use/ . The Office of Risk Management reserves the right to review the driver's licenses and Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs) of all candidates selected with employment contingent upon a favorable review.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • IFMA Facility Management Professional (FMP) or IFMA Certified Facility Manager (CFM) or AFE Certified Professional Maintenance Manager (CPMM) or AFE Certified Plant Engineer (CPE) or APPA Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) certification;
  • Advanced degree.
