Pathways and Partnership Assistant

The George Mason University, College of Science (COS) Office of Academic Affairs/ Office of Academic Innovations and Partnership invites applications for the position of Pathways and Partnerships Assistant. About the Position:

Working up to 15 hours per week, the Pathways and Partnerships Assistant will support operational and programmatic functions of the College of Science (COS) Office of Academic Affairs/Office of Academic Innovations and Partnerships, with a primary focus of supporting COS-affiliated Learning Communities. Key activities include event coordination, outreach and communications, scheduling, data collection and management, and evaluation.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting course enrollment, communication, programming, documentation, and assessment of College of Science-affiliated residential learning communities;
  • Collaborating regularly with internal COS offices and university departments to support shared programming, including the Office of Sustainability, Housing and Residence Life, and others;
  • Supporting the development and operations of COS programs and events, including marketing, registration, planning, and implementation of face-to-face and virtual events;
  • Assisting with evaluation of data related to selected Academic Affairs/Academic Innovations and Partnerships programs, compiling all data and statistics required for departmental reporting;
  • Contributing to special projects and assignments as requested.


Required Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in administrative support, student activities, and/or event planning;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Ability to engage and serve a highly-diverse academic community, including prospective and current students and internal and external partners;
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines under pressure;
  • Excellent oral/written communication and customer service skills;
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience;
  • Two or more years of prior experience in office operations, student activities, and/or event management;
  • Prior experience in a higher education setting;
  • Interest or prior experience in STEM-focused outreach and engagement.
