Salesforce Architect/Lead

George Mason University, Information Technology Services (ITS) - located on the Fairfax, Va., campus-invites applications for a Salesforce Architect/Lead position within the Enterprise Applications, Enterprise Applications Support and Development team. Responsibilities include: * Leading technical architecture, staff oversight, solution development, project coordination, and need assessment: ** Effectively collaborate within ITS and with the schools and business unit leaders to create and drive Salesforce strategy, design, and architecture; ** Lead and participate in Salesforce program management including governance, project execution, development and coding, status tracking, monitoring of critical issues and risks, and maintaining ongoing support; ** Lead and assist in hands-on solution design, rapidly build proof-of-concepts and prototypes to evaluate functionality around the Salesforce ecosystem to deliver on key Institutional and product objectives; ** Assess current state processes, pain points, and future needs of student engagement, and articulate how Salesforce can bridge those gaps; ** Help set the long-term vision for Salesforce utilization, support tooling and systems, and related internal processes; ** Conduct Solution Architecture reviews with project teams prior to design and development activities and ensure solutions are scalable and aligned with platform roadmap to meet business requirements; ** Continuously assess new technologies to determine their viability and applicability within the technical ecosystem; ** Participate/facilitate Salesforce project Scrum calls; ** Coordinate projects and operations with other ITS units including Systems Engineering, Network Operations, EDIS, Customer Services, Desktop Support, IT Security and the Project Management Office; ** Lead and work with Salesforce admins and developers. ** Provide mentorship, training/knowledge transfer and participate in governance and documentation activities: ** Provide supervision and Lead/assist other staff in projects and provide training and support as needed; ** Lead and participate in creation and maintenance of Salesforce Operation Guidebook containing the relevant Standard Operating Procedures for Salesforce operation; ** Participate/facilitate the Salesforce Evaluation and Planning Committee meetings; ** Lead and mentor team members consisting of administrators, developers, and analysts to develop strong Salesforce practices; ** Keep abreast of new developments, concepts and techniques related to the core CRM platform and related systems; ** Drive adoption of standards, governance, and best practices (including Agile processes) related to owned technologies into the new Salesforce Platform/Practice; communicate and drive adoption across the community where needed.

Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in computer science/IT or related field of study; or equivalent combination of education and experience; * Extensive knowledge of Salesforce architecture and principles of architecting and designing full stack solutions using the Salesforce Platform, components and tools such as Salesforce.com, Lightning, Visualforce, Apex, Visualforce, JQuery, CSS, XML, JSON SOQL, Multi-tier architectures, Service Cloud, Marketing Cloud, etc.; * Good understanding of Configuration, Customization & Integration in Salesforce; * Knowledge of Integration with third party products with existing infrastructure (e.g. Informatica, Ethos); * Knowledge of methods for web Services development and consumption: REST/SOAP/SOA/JSON/XML/HTML; * Hands on experience with SFDC, Lightning, Apex, Visualforce, JQuery, CSS, XML, JSON; * Strong understanding of environment management, release management, code versioning best practices, and deployment methodologies in Salesforce; * Solid understanding of Salesforce Administration requirements; * Solid knowledge of data modeling principles and their application in Salesforce; * Working knowledge of common System Development Lifecycle (SDLC) methodology concepts and practices such as waterfall and Agile; * Working knowledge of project management principles; * Knowledge and ability to work with Salesforce code repository and release management tools such as (Flosum, Gearset, Copado, etc.); * Working knowledge of user provisioning and permission set configuration/usage in Salesforce; * Ability to gather/analyze/define functional and technical requirements to determine feasibility and translate into technical design specifications and user stories, and provide detailed system and functional designs; * Ability to direct/lead and assist in development, system testing, and documentation related activities; * Demonstrated experience in a Salesforce Project Lead, Solution Architect, or Lead Business Analyst role.

Preferred Qualifications: * One or more of the following certifications or equivalent: ** Salesforce Certified Application and/or System Architect; ** Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator; ** Salesforce Platform Developer Certifications; and/or ** Salesforce Certified Service Cloud Consultant; * Strong verbal and written communication with the ability to effectively articulate and communicate technical vision, possibilities, and outcomes across all levels in the organization; * Exposure to one or more of the following languages/tools/technologies: C#.Net/Razor, PHP, XML, CSS, JQuery, ASP.Net, SQL Server, MySQL, Wordpress, Drupal, and other CMS platforms; * Knowledge and ability to work with Salesforce backup and recovery tools such as OwnBackup, CommVault, Sesame, etc.; * Experience/exposure to working with the Higher Ed industry and enterprise systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.; * Understanding/experience with Salesforce connected app architecture and best practices; * Knowledge and experience working with the EDA in Salesforce; * Knowledge and experience working with Salesforce Einstein Analytics; * Understanding/experience with Salesforce connected app architecture and best practices.

Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
