Summary

This position is located in the Recreation Division of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) branch of the Fleet and Family Readiness (FFR) department, NSA Dahlgren, VA. The incumbent is responsible for all the economic and efficient operations of bowling and theater programs.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures economic and efficient operation of the Cat B bowling program and Cat C movie program which includes programming, resale, staff management, equipment and facilities maintenance and repair.
  • Ensures effective bowling program and movie scheduling marketing, operation and customer service.
  • Ensures program operates according to CNIC instructions and CNIC program standards, guidance and requirements.
  • Schedules, programs, tournaments, leagues, and special events to best meet the expectations of installation demographics.
  • Implements higher level directives; formulates procedures and programs to ensure high standards of recreational and promotional efforts.
  • Uses a cash register and Point of Sale (POS) systems.
  • Resolves internal and patron problems with minimal adverse impact on functional programs.
  • Plans, organizes work and manages internal resources to ensure maximum productivity and economies.
  • Assists with preparation of financial plans, budgets, inventories, cost controls and related records and reports.
  • Reviews the financial status of the assigned activities and recommends appropriate changes.Performs maintenance and security of assigned areas and spaces, ensuring clean and safe facilities.
  • Ensures fire, safety, security and sanitation inspections are conducted and routine facility and equipment is properly functioning and takes remedial action as appropriate to correct deficiencies.
  • Maintains and enforces security for funds, merchandise, supplies and equipment to preclude or minimize the potential for fraud, waste or abuse.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the scope of this position
  • Directs and monitors work to be accomplished by staff. Makes schedules, approves leave, approves bi-weekly payroll.
  • Interviews, selects, and approves hiring for both bowling and theater operaitons.
  • Ensures staff receives proper training to fulfill requirements of their positions.
  • Conducts annual performance reviews of staff, ensuring correctness of positions/position descriptions.
  • Addresses potential disciplinary and/or performance issues timely and takes appropriate corrective action (s) as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Ability to perform the full range of supervisory duties that supports full employee management responsibilities.
  • Ability to deal effectively with subordinates, supervisory and management officials and patrons.
  • Knowledge of computer databases, spreadsheet applications, Microsoft Office programs, internet research. SAP and KRONOS timekeeping system usage is preferred.
  • Knowledge of CNIC organizational structure and mission(s) or organizations.
  • Knowledge of CNIC's EEO policy and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Department of Defense (DoD) and non-appropriated fund policies, regulations, administrative practices and procedures related to management, planning, scheduling and coordinating of special events and recreational programs.
  • Ability to perform the full range of functions associated with operating mavie and bowling programs.
  • Knowledge of CNIC cash handling and food handling procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
