Summary

This position serves as a Human Resources Specialist (Information Systems), located in the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Human Resources (HR), Human Services and Advisory Group (SAG), Staffing and Classification (SC). The mission of JMD is to provide advice to senior management officials relating to basic Department policy for budget and financial management, personnel management and training, procurement, equal opportunity, information processing, etc.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities for a 0201 Human Resources Specialist (Information Systems) generally include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • The incumbent provides a wide range of expert knowledge in the application of Human Resources (HR) functional areas, for example, Payroll, Recruitment, Staffing and Position Management.
  • The incumbent maintains all HR Systems (e.g., Empower HR, dashboard and USA Staffing).
  • The incumbent coordinates and monitors system enhancements, modifications, and conversions provided by system releases maintains and prepares reports, checks, and verifies reports.
  • The incumbent creates and maintains reports relating to automated systems.
  • The incumbent conducts troubleshooting for software implementation, operational problems, and user problems. reviews and updates links, edits existing web page material, makes modifications to existing design, and makes enhancements on a periodic basis.
  • The incumbent ensures staff is aware of information system processes and procedures.

Qualifications

To qualify for the position of Human Resources Specialist (Information Systems) at (GS-0201-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade you're applying to.

If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

Specialized Experience: Applicants must have at least one full-time year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service that included: 1) Maintaining all HR Systems (e.g., Empower HR, and USA Staffing) for the component; 2) Providing guidance for all HR information systems design, maintenance, reporting and data integrity; 3) Developing training guides, user instructions/manuals, and customer support documentation for HR or HR systems; AND 4) Providing support for web-based HR tools such customer support portals, automated SharePoint workflows, and related tools.
