(ISD) headquartered at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, is one of the most experienced and comprehensive support centers within the Department of Defense.

Responsibilities

  • You will be the Intelligence Support Division Chief in the SEC IEWS Directorate.
  • You will oversee automation initiatives and operations for information technology programs.
  • Coordinate projects/programs, shape the goals of the organization, and make decisions on work problems.
  • Manage facets of technical programs involving life cycle software acquisition and sustainment for Army applications in IEWS.
  • Conduct strategic planning, conceptualizing, integration or assimilation of technical, financial, human resources, programmatic or business operational programs.
  • Direct information technology transfer, insertion or transition programs.
  • Furnish guidance (e.g. policy guidance, or program guidance) to internal personnel or external to the organization.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Two Year Probationary Period is required.
  • Supervisory Probationary Period is required.
  • This position requires Level III certification in Acquisition Career Field Information Technology or the incumbent must be able to obtain certification within 24 months of appointment.
  • This is a Critical Acquisition Position (CAP). Must be a member of an Acquisition Corps at the time of appointment or eligible for a waiver. Note: Waiver is position-specific and must be approved prior to being appointed to the position.
  • This position requires a 3-year tenure agreement. Must sign DD Form 2888 (Critical Acquisition Position Service Agreement) and execute, as a condition of employment, a written tenure agreement.
  • This position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Short notice travel to world-wide locations, using the fastest mode of transportation available MAY be required.
  • This position is ADP sensitive.
  • Commensurate with mission requirements, the incumbent can be required to work irregular duty hours to include working nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Top Secret Security is required.
  • Drug test is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the Experience requirements described below. To qualify for an IT Specialist position you must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below based on the grade level required of the position being filled:

1) Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.

2) Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.

3) Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.

4) Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In addition to the competencies above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade (DE-03/GS-13) level in the Federal service which includes work that involved: 1) Managing technical programs involving life cycle software acquisition in the areas of either Command, Control and Communications - Tactical (C3T); Intelligence, Electronic Warfare and Sensors (IEWS); Enterprise Information Systems (EIS); or Application/Software Services. 2) Planning technical/business operational programs/requirements in the areas of information technology, human resources, and/or financial; AND 3) Overseeing the technical or administrative work of others. (Applicants must articulate meeting all areas of specialized experience within the narrative content of resume).This definition of specialized experience is work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (DE-03/GS-13).
