PHILLIPS Family Partners is currently seeking qualified mental health clinicians to provide in-home services to at-risk youth and their families. Family Partners supports families by offering home and community-based individual and family therapy, psychoeducation, and behavior therapy in Northern Virginia.

Working in collaboration with a skilled team of colleagues, the Family Counselor utilizes a strengths-based approach to provide support to children and adolescences with mental health and other behavioral issues and their families. The Family Counselor position offers a great way for residents to acquire relational and individual hours towards licensure.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Weekly individual and group supervision by Board Approved supervisor toward VA/DC licensure (LPC, LMFT)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides clinical services to children, adolescences, and families in the home setting
  • Develops assessment and treatment plans to guide services and measure progress
  • Provides collaboration and consultation with families, case managers, and treatment team members
  • Provides case management and links families to community resources
  • Completes clinical documentation in a timely manner

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in a counseling, psychology, social work or a related human services field, preferred
  • Qualified Mental Health Professional - Child (QMHP-C) certified or eligible
  • A minimum of 2 years of clinical experience with children and families                   (Experience can include internships and practicums.)
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a team
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Reliable transportation
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, preferred but not required

In July 1967, with a vision of applying behavioral principles to the problem of educating unserved children, Dr. Lakin Phillips, a psychologist, founded the School for Contemporary Education. From the beginning Dr. Phillips' vision included a firm commitment to active parental involvement and interest in the use of educational technology. The school opened two months later in a renovated house in McLean, Virginia with four students. The organization first established a tutoring program but special education programs soon followed. In 2001 the program's name was changed to PHILLIPS Programs for Children and Families in honor of the founder. Piper Phillips Caswell is the current President and CEO.

From the initial four students, the organization has grown to serve nearly 500 students and their families from throughout the Washington, DC metropolitan area annually in its four programs (two special education day schools, a therapeutic foster care program, and a home-based family program).
