Master Software Engineer - ICM Varicent

We are seeking a highly creative and intellectually curious Sr. Software Engineer to be instrumental in contributing to Capital One's Human Resources tools and infrastructure. In this role, you will work independently and collaborate across multiple teams to accomplish organizational goals. You will be part of a team that specializes in building and maintaining systems that enable Capital One's internal associates to become more productive and achieve their personal and professional goals. As part of an HR Tech team that's leading the next wave of technology modernization, you will play an integral part in advancing Capital One's engineering and operational excellence.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
  • Thrive in a rapidly evolving environment and adapt to frequent transitions in technologies and teams
  • Partner with product owners in the HR community to refine requirements and groom Agile stories
  • Generate innovative ideas, develop proof-of-concepts, and rapid prototypes alongside other engineers utilizing pair programming and mobbing techniques
  • Leverage deep incentive compensation Modeling expertise to lead Line of Business incentives automation into production environments and manage ongoing on-call production support after go-live
  • Apply problem-solving techniques to lead application design discussions and resolve technical issues while mentoring junior developers
  • Implement and document scalable, highly available, and resilient system solutions based on distributed architecture principles
  • Leverage deep application and platform expertise to lead the planning and deployment of Cloud solutions into production environments and manage ongoing on-call production support after go-live
  • Design and develop automation workflows, performing unit tests and conducting reviews to make sure your work is rigorously designed, elegantly coded, and effectively tuned for platform performance, and assessing the overall quality of delivered components


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 8 years of experience in Incentive Compensation Modeling with Varicent (Formerly IBM Cognos ICM)
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Development with object-oriented programming (Java, Python or Javascript)
  • At least 1 year of experience with AWS


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • 10+ years of experience in software development with object-oriented programming
  • 10+ years of experience with source control methodologies
  • 10+ years of experience in Incentive Compensation Modeling with Varicent (Formerly IBM Cognos ICM)
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud based hosting via AWS
  • 3+ years of experience working in Agile environment utilizing Continuous Integration & Delivery Pipelines
  • 3+ years of experience working with SQL databases
  • 1+ years of experience working with Workday and Salesforce Platform integrations
