Integrated Communications and Marketing is a multimedia, service-focused operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP's strategic business units.
Summary

This position reports to the VP, Experiences and Connections and leads the development and implementation of multi-channel marketing and promotions strategies to support virtual events and AARP Virtual Community Center, in-person events and other consumer experiences, the AARP Members-Only content platform, and associated promotional e-newsletters. Ensures marketing activities are integrated with departmental activities, cross-organizational promotional efforts and align with overall Enterprise Strategy objectives. Directs the development of multi-channel strategies and implements tactical plans to achieve goals. Tracks and assesses campaign results and adjusts marketing strategies and plans to meet changing markets and competitive conditions. Collaborates with senior management to ensure marketing and promotion plans are aligned with overarching departmental goals.
Responsibilities
  • Direct the development of integrated multi-channel marketing and promotion plans designed to achieve goals for the AARP Virtual Community Center, Fun and Fulfillment Enterprise Issue, and Editorial Promotions activities and products including events, platforms, e-newsletters, and other initiatives.
  • Lead a matrixed team of channel specialists (email, paid digital, social, print) to coordinate promotional efforts, ensure integration, and ensure continuous assessment of results to drive campaign optimizations.
  • Ensures calls-to-action in marketing and promotion materials are integrated into AARP's Full Funnel marketing strategy.
  • Analyzes data from marketing reports to create develop and optimize marketing and promotions strategies for entire portfolio of the department's work.
  • Collaborates with internal leaders of internal marketing channels and teams to share information and identify opportunities for strategic integration.
Requirements
  • 8+ years experience directing multifaceted and integrated marketing and promotional strategies that include email, print, social media, paid search, display, and native advertising.
  • Ability to develop strategic goals and marketing strategies, while continuously refining and adapting approaches in response to feedback, research, and insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead both internal and external teams, and proven ability to work effectively with others in a matrixed environment to gain internal respect, influence, and consensus. Manages relationships and challenges with diplomacy.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment that demands strategic thinking, and nimble decision making.
  • Experience in event promotion and content marketing preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations and clearly communicate strategies and results.
