Integrated Communications and Marketing is a multimedia, service-focused operation that leads in shaping the impression of AARP by providing communications planning, marketing, support and execution for AARP's strategic business units.
Summary

This position reports to the VP, Experiences and Connections and leads the operations of the AARP Virtual Community Center (VCC) which includes management of vendors, communications with internal and external stakeholders and content creators, ensuring optimum functionality of the website. Manages the team responsible web production workflow and assures quality and accuracy of posted content. Leads the team consisting of internal and external stakeholders responsible for website design and functionality enhancements. Collaborates with senior management to identify opportunities to streamline workflow, develop the vision for future improvements/enhancements.
Responsibilities
  • Leads a team to manage all aspects of the AARP Virtual Community Center (VCC) digital operations including functionality, design, content posting, quality control, optimization, and performance.
  • Monitors performance of content, traffic and other metrics and prepares regular reporting for senior management.
  • Manages efforts to improve the site design or performance; works with appropriate AARP staff or vendors to ensure compliance with AARP standards and business practices.
  • Manages the calendar of content for the VCC and ensures the workflow from content submission, selection and posting occurs according to established timelines.
  • Collaborates with appropriate staff across the organization to ensure VCC best practices are disseminated to event owners. Represents the department on cross- organizational teams.
  • Ensures event postings are in compliance with established VCC Style Guide. Works with appropriate staff to coach and train event owners in established VCC style requirements.
Requirements
  • 6+ years of experience working website development, production, user experience and project management.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead teams, and proven ability to work effectively with others in a matrixed environment to gain internal respect, influence, and consensus. Manages relationships and challenges with diplomacy.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Ability to produce high-quality reports and presentations and clearly communicate strategies and results.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills, team player, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment that demands strategic thinking, and nimble decision making to meet goals and objectives.
