Dewberry has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health and Safety Specialist working in our Fairfax Headquarters location and reporting directly to our Director of Safety and Health. The position requires up to 25% travel, both within Virginia and nationally. Ideal candidate will be interested in growth and being part of an evolving safety program by performing the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Office: Safety Program Administration and Risk Management Support
  • Implementing and promoting Dewberry Safety & Health Program.
  • Tracking and investigating worker compensation claims.
  • Manage Safety PPE Purchase Program.
  • Maintaining and management of company safety performance metrics
  • Support Operations, Director of Safety and Health and Marketing Team with RFP's and proposal submissions safety content and metrics.
  • Development of the Dewberry's subcontractor safety and health requirements program as assigned.
  • Manage Medical Monitoring, Screening and Surveillance Programs.
  • Development and implementation of safety training courses, including delivering training
  • Monitor safety training compliance and reporting to Safety Advocates and operational management.
  • Conduct project site safety inspections.
  • Network with Safety Advocates and Business Unit Managers to proactively address and resolve any safety program concern/issues.
  • Projects or tasks


Required Skills & Required Experience

  • B achelor's Degree in Safety, industrial hygiene, safety management, environmental science, occupational health or other related field
  • 1-3 years of hands on, related work.
  • Construction, General Industry or Industrial Hygiene safety background or related environment commensurate with the requirements for Construction Health Safety Technician (CHST) or Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST).
  • Experience in development of Activity Hazard Analysis.
  • Advanced written communication skills, being able to transform highly technical information into meaningful content for internal audiences.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Highly skilled in conference call technology to support the Director of Safety.
